What to expect

Our history
Telling the story of inception to rebirth, these stories told by our founding fathers are about how Africans formed a continental body known as the Organization of African Unity to fight for liberation and bring the Pan-African ideals to reality.
The rebirth: the transformation of OAU to AU
The narrative of Africa has shifted and Africa’s stakeholders, its citizens, are seeking partners who aspire like them for a future full of possibilities and will work with them collaboratively to achieve the Vision of Africa’s Agenda 2063.
Africa’s Development Blueprint – Agenda 2063
Agenda 2063 has seven aspirations and 15 flagship projects, as well as Continental Programmes, whose implementation will deliver the Africa we want, an Africa that is grounded in reality, driven by unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity.

Did you know?

The Organization of African Unity (OAU) was formed in 1963 and advocated for African unity and solidarity, and fought for independence from colonialism and an end to apartheid. It was re-launched as African Union (AU) in 2002 to spearhead Africa’s Development and Integration and is comprised of 55 countries. Its Agenda 2063, Africa’s Development Blueprint, is a 50 year plan that was launched in 2013. The AU has representational offices in key cities around the world.
